Passing Notes

About

Passing Notes is the title of an exploitable comic by Eoin Ryan of Space Avalanche in which a teacher catches two boys passing notes in class. She at first moves to scold the boys but upon reading what the note says, she is overcome with surprise and joy. In the exploitables, what the note says is altered. It was a popular exploitable on Russian site risovach.ru before seeing some spread on Reddit.

Origin

On May 4th, 2010, Space Avalanche^[1] posted "Passing Notes," a comic drawn by Eoin Ryan. In the comic, the teacher begins to chastise the boys for passing notes, only to discover that the boys' note expresses that they love her class (shown below).

Spread

By early 2015, a template had been uploaded to Russian meme generator site risovach.ru.^[2] As of September 11th, 2017, there have been over 180 images created with the template on the site (examples shown below).

Two years later, on September 10th, 2017, the template appeared on /r/MemeEconomy^[3] and gained over 270 points (shown below, left). This spawned some variations within the subreddit (example, shown below, right).
