Partnering With X For Pride Month refers to a series of parodies posted on Twitter in which members of the LGBTQ+ community joke that they're partnering with certain corporations for Pride Month. The tweets are written in the style of a press release and usually attempt to make a humorously tenuous connection between the LGBTQ+ experience and a specific corporation, oftentimes in an insulting manner to said corporation for humorous effect.

Origin

Variations on the meme began circulating in June 2021. On June 15th, Twitter user @baykweef^[2] tweeted one of the first known iterations of the meme, "coming out as a gay man felt like I now had a clean slate in life…that’s why i’m partnering with Fleet Labs Enemas to bring you a pride collection that’ll make you feel clean and your water even cleaner," though the post only gained two retweets and 13 likes.

On June 17th, 2021, Twitter user @MajorPhilebrity^[1] posted, "As a member of the LGBTQ community, I’ve always felt targeted and attacked. There are always those who want to strike us down. That’s why, this Pride Month, I’m partnering with Lockheed Martin," gaining over 40 retweets and 600 likes in one year (shown below). Lockheed Martin is an aerospace and arms company that is known, among other things, for making the drones used in American military drone strikes.

The meme started growing more popular starting in late May and early June of 2022. On May 31st, 2022, several Twitter users posted variations on the meme. Some popular examples include a post by user @Febitchuary^[3] that gained over 410 retweets and 2,100 likes in two weeks (shown below, left) and a post by @Anthonydmusa^[4] that gained over 440 retweets and 6,000 likes (shown below, right).

Other popular examples from the beginning of June include a June 1st post by user @delcomrade^[5] that gained over 5,000 retweets and 40,000 likes (shown below, left) and a June 4th post by @RealDJCthulu^[6] that gained over 18,000 retweets and 181,000 likes in one week (shown below, right).
