Origin

The name Paldean Wooper comes from the game taking place within the region of Paldea, which historically means there are expected to be more region-specific variations of other established Pokémon within the game. Paldean Wooper was shown off as part of the August 3rd livestream^[1] unveiling several Pokémon updates to the franchise (shown below).

Spread

Immediately following the broadcast, there were several reactions about the form, as the original Wooper had a significant amount of appeal within the fanbase. Fanart depicting the new Wooper side-by-side with the original variant was made, with a noted example being from the Twitter user @traineraino^[2], who captioned it two Paldean Wooper as a joke as one is covered in mud (shown below).

The same day, Twitter user @TheLyonTV^[3] uploaded a Paldean Wooper version of the Brooklyn Nine-Nine meme I've Only Had Arlo For A Day And A Half with the Paldean Wooper being the thing held by Rosa, showing the intense love the Fanbase has for the new version of Wooper (shown below).
