About

And Mama Don't Worry You Raised A Gangsta, continued I'm A Survivor, are lyrics from the song "Painting Pictures" by Superstar Pride which in early 2023 became a meme on TikTok when male TikTokers made parodies of Superstar Pride's TikTok video in which he's rapping into a hanging microphone and showcasing his funny-looking haircut that has hair coming off the back of his head like both a mullet and a stovetop. The parodies involved male creators taping large objects onto the back of their heads (like toilets, toasters, cars, planes, etc.) to resemble his hair. The trend was similar to videos made about Gunna's 'Top Off' in 2022.

Origin

On February 4th, 2023, rapper Superstar Pride posted a TikTok[1] in which he's rapping his song "Painting Pictures" into a hanging microphone, earning roughly 7.9 million plays and 885,800 likes in one month (shown below, left). A few days later, on February 12th, 2023, he posted another TikTok[2] that was a continued snippet of the song. The second video gained more engagement, earning roughly 34 million plays and 3.5 million likes in one month (shown below, right).

And Mama, don't worry
You raised a gangster, I'm a survivor.
It hurt me, not been able
To give you what you want
Since I was a toddler.

On February 7th, 2023, TikToker[3] @lorenzojohnson_ posted a Patrick Bateman Walking meme with text related to listening to the song while walking to sports practice, earning roughly 2.6 million plays and 306,000 likes in one month (shown below, left). On February 16th, 2023, TikToker[4] @fredi.j posted a video in which he placed a large brush into his hoodie, made to mimic Superstar Pride's haircut. Over the course of three weeks, the video received roughly 10.2 million plays and 1.5 million likes (shown below, right). Other, less viral TikToks[8] that were similar to TikToker[4] @fredi.j's concept also surfaced on February 16th.

Spread

Going into February and March 2023, many creators on the app followed the same concept of replicating Superstar Pride's hair and lip-dubbing his lyrics. The objects featured became increasingly absurd over time. For instance, on February 19th, 2023, TikToker[5] @bigbook231 posted a video in which a large kitchen appliance was taped to the back of his head, earning roughly 6.8 million plays and 820,000 likes in 18 days (shown below, left). On March 7th, 2023, TikToker[6] @yourfavchocolatee posted a video in which he taped himself to a semi-truck, earning roughly 23.4 million plays and 4.3 million likes in two days (shown below, right).

By March 9th, 2023, the song's TikTok[7] sound had amassed roughly 138,500 videos, many of which were parodies of Superstar Pride. Many of the other videos were general sports highlights and car videos.
