Ozempic Joe is a nickname given to American rapper Fat Joe after he admitted using the Type-2 diabetes drug and weight loss aid Ozempic drug in an interview with US Weekly in mid-October 2024. The nickname was popularized on X / Twitter later in October after the rapper's performance ahead of the Dodgers vs. Yankees Game 3 for the 2024 MLB World Series, spawning memes and jokes about Joe's drastic weight loss and his "Ozempic face."

Origin

On October 15th, 2024, American hip-hop artist Fat Joe admitted in an exclusive interview with US Weekly[1] that Ozempic, which he takes for diabetes, and a new diet helped him lose over 200 pounds, saying, "Ozempic says you may only have two pieces of your favorite stuff,” he joked.

On October 28th, 2024, the rapper performed his song "All The Way Up" ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. New York Yankees in Game 3 of the 2024 MLB World Series. The Fox Sports YouTube[2] channel posted Joe's performance from the game (seen below), which amassed nearly 280,000 views and 2,200 likes in 20 hours.

Joe's 2024 MLB World Series performance spawned memes and jokes under the nickname "Ozempic Joe" due to what many online perceived as the rapper's Ozempic face appearance.

For example, on October 28th, 2024, X[3] user @PalmerDesigns_ posted a screenshot of Joe singing in the field paired with the caption, "This is Ozempic Joe not Fat Joe," which garnered over 50,000 views and 150 likes in a few hours.

On the same day, X[4] user @Spottedcat123 saw "Ozempic Joe" in X's trending topics and assumed it was about the President of the United States Joe Biden. The tweet (seen below) received more than 38,000 views and 400 likes in a few hours.
