About
Overwhelmed by the Power of the Polynesian Culture While Watching Moana 2 refers to a deleted viral video of an ecstatic blonde white woman passionately screaming during a showing of Moana 2 because she was "overwhelmed" by the Polynesian culture on display. The original video's POV caption read, "POV: You’re Just a White Gal Who Got Overwhelmed by the Power of the Polynesian Culture While Watching Moana 2." The original video was posted to TikTok by TikToker Kat Kamalani (@katkamalani) in November 2024. Kamalani was widely mocked akin to cultural appropriation criticisms and cringe felt by viewers of the video. People also used her caption like a phrasal template by replacing words and certain phrasing to match other scenarios. The drum song used in the original video also became a TikTok sound used by others for their memes.
