Out West Challenge is a TikTok dance challenge created by TikToker Nicole Bloomgarden in December 2019 to the song "Out West" by Jackboys Feat. Young Thug. The dance challenge gained popularity on TikTok in February 2020.

Origin

On December 28th, TikToker @nicolebloomgarden uploaded a dance video to the sound clip "OUT WEST – JACKBOYS feat. Young Thug"^[2] with the caption, "NEW CHALLENGE ALERT 🚨 Tag me & use the hashtag #outwestchallenge in your videos‼️ I WANNA SEE YALL LETS GO VIRAL #fyp #foryou #trending #viral #dance" (show below). The video gained 5,500 likes in two months.

Spread

On February 13th, 2020, while the #outwestchallenge began trending Ellen Degeneres' TikTok account posted a dance video featuring @officialfikshun (shown below, left). The video garnered over 37,700 likes in two weeks. On February 16th, Nicole Bloomgarden posted another video in which they announced themself as the creator of the dance after not getting enough credit (shown below, center). The video accumulated over 55,400 likes in two weeks. On February 29th, Usher performed the dance on his TikTok account and received over 396,600 likes in two days (shown below, right).
