The trend was popularized on TikTok in November 2023, gaining viral spread outside of the Genshin Impact community on the app.

Origin

On August 19th, 2023, YouTuber^[1] Gouse Gaming Gallery posted a compilation video of every time the Genshin Impact character Neuvillette says "Oratrice Mecanique d'Analyse Cardinale," highlighting the rhythmic way that he tends to speak the line, garnering over 124,000 views in three months (shown below). The Oratrice Mecanique d'Analyse Cardinale is a weighing scale device featured in Genshin Impact that converts a person's belief in justice into an energy source known as Indemnitium.^[2] The video was reuploaded by TikToker^[3] @shukakek on September 24th, garnering over 1.3 million views in two months.

On October 29th, TikToker^[4] @tourist.passing.through posted a meme using the video's audio where Neuvillette is photoshopped to resemble a DJ every time he says "Oratrice Mecanique d'Analyse Cardinale," garnering over 2 million views in a week (shown below, left). On November 1st, TikToker^[5] @neuvllett posted a video where she dances to the audio every time he says the line, garnering over 2.4 million views in a week (shown below, right). This is the earliest known example of the dance trend.

The dance trend became increasingly popular throughout November 2023, inspiring over 4,300 uses under @tourist.passing.through's original sound in a week. For example, on November 3rd, 2023, TikToker^[6] @zuzi_przerwa posted a video that gained over 9.7 million views in five days (shown below, left). On November 5th, TikToker^[7] @c.kworthington posted a dance video that gained over 9.5 million views in three days (shown below, right). The video was reposted to /r/TikTokCringe^[8] that day, garnering over 400 upvotes in the same span of time.

On November 6th, TikToker^[9] @breadbedo posted a video of Neuvillette dancing to a version of the audio remixed with Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust," garnering over 2.1 million views in two days (shown below, left). The original sound was used over 600 times in the same span of time in similar dance videos and videos referencing the catchiness of the song itself. For example, on November 7th, TikToker^[10] @batcavelark posted a dance to the remix, garnering over 440,000 views in a day (shown below, right).

That day, Ray Chase, the English voice actor for Neuvillette, posted a video on X^[11] where he references the trend, garnering over 40,000 likes in a day (shown below). On November 8th, Kotaku^[12] reported on the trend.
