Oops! You Added Too Much, also known as Cookies Guide, refers to an exploitable image of six cookies baked in various incorrect ways. In January 2019, edited variations in which the sixth cookie is replaced with other images gained circulated within various meme communities on Reddit.

Origin

On May 7th, 2018, the sunspirechocolate Instagram[1] account published a guide demonstrating common mistakes people make while baking cookies. The post gained over 8,700 likes in eight months and has since been reposted[2][3][4] by the page several times.

Spread

On October 13th, 2018, Instagram[5] user cube.lad posted an edited version of the guide in which the sixth cookie was replaced with a pile of dirt (shown below, left). The post gained over 23,000 likes in three months. On October 24th, 2018, Redditor[6] drewth12 re-edited cube.lad's meme, replacing the picture of dirt with an image of beans. The post gained over 1,100 upvotes in three months.



On January 13th, 2019, Redditor ZhaoGao posted a version of the image in which the sixth cookie was replaced by a picture of an East Asian dragon to /r/HistoryMemes subreddit. The post received over 17,100 upvotes in two days. On the same day, ZhaoGao uploaded the template to /r/MemeEconomy subreddit.



In the next days, more edits of the image appeared on Reddit, primarily within /r/dankmemes.
