About
Onika Burger, also known as She=Onika Ate=Burgers, refers to a Nicki Minaj meme that was started by a Twitter reply in which a user named @sexxtbook stated that Nicki Minaj (whose real name is Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty) eats burgers, as in, she's overweight. The reply was referencing the previous reply that proclaimed North West "ate" (as in she did well at) drawing her grandmother Kris Jenner. Twitter user @sexxtbook took the opportunity to criticize Minaj by claiming that she eats burgers, using her real name Onika in tow. The tweet inspired multiple Onika Burger memes within Stan Twitter circles going into February 2023 that mostly joked about the funny and semi-nonsensical nature of the original reply.
Origin
On February 14th, 2023, Twitter[1] user @sexxtbook replied to a thread started by Pop Base that was about a drawing made by Kim Kardashian and Ye's daughter North West of her grandmother Kris Jenner. A Twitter[2] user named @noahsrev posted the first reply reading, "Why she ate," which essentially complimented West's drawing skills. Then, Twitter[1] user @sexxtbook replied, "she=onika ate=burgers," earning roughly 3,500 likes in six days (shown below). Twitter[1] user @sexxtbook was basically making a comment about Nicki Minaj's weight, referring to her by her real name Onika and saying that she eats burgers.
Spread
Later on February 14th, 2023, Twitter[3] user @remy4real23 tweeted a screenshot of @sexxtbook's "she=onika ate=burgers" reply, gaining roughly 34,000 likes in six days. The tweet made the "Onika Burger" meme more well-known and more memes soon surfaced with the phrase. For instance, on February 16th, 2023, Twitter[4] user @hoederves posted a quote retweet that captioned a video, "She= Onika wanted= would do anything for Aespa=burger sing=eat," and gained roughly 4,000 likes in four days (shown below).
On February 18th, 2023, Twitter[5] user @magdalenepop posted a QT about the song "Shallow" by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, captioning the tweet with their own free association equation. The QT received roughly 6,300 likes in two days (shown below).
Onika Burger memes then spread to other social media sites. For instance, on October 19th, 2023, Instagram [6] user @skinnycity posted a carousel post that included many of the aforementioned tweets and memes, earning roughly 8,300 likes in one day. Also on February 19th, TikToker [7] @tiktokbruh42069 posted a photo slideshow including many Onika Burger memes, gaining roughly 109,500 plays and 22,400 likes in one day.
