"One Game" is a parody version of the song In the End by Linkin Park based on the PS5 Has No Games meme. In memes, the lyrics of the song are changed to the story of a man who bought a PlayStation 5 console but quickly finds out that it has virtually no exclusive games to play. Created in 2020, the parody song has frequently been used and referenced in memes about PlayStation and its player base.

Origin

Precursors

Prior to the creation of "One Game," the most prevalent song based on the PS5 Has No Games meme, parody songs based on the earlier PS3 Has No Games meme were circulated online starting in 2010.

Notably, on February 5th, 2010, an anonymous 4chan user posted a Heavy Rain parody using the song "Chocolate Rain" by Tay Zonday, which referenced the meme and was widely circulated through reposts^[1]^[2] in the following years (original post no longer available; shown below).

Prior to May 20th, 2015, Tumblr^[3] user suckmymara posted another meme based on "A Horse With No Name" by America (post no longer available; shown below).

"One Game"

On March 26th, 2020, an anonymous 4chan user posted the first three lyrics of the parody song that would later become "One Game" in a thread on the /v/^[4] board (shown below). In the same thread, an anonymous user continued the song with six more lines added to it.^[5] The song is an edited version of "In the End" by Linkin Park, notable for frequent use in various memes such as In the Virtual End.

Users added more lyrics to the song in April and May 2020 until on May 9th, 2020, an anonymous user posted the most popular version of the song in /v/^[6] (shown below).

This version of the song saw multiple reposts in the following years both on 4chan^[7]^[8] and outside the imageboard.^[9]

On May 18th, 2020, voice actor Chris Voiceman posted an audio of himself singing the song in a /v/ thread.^[10] On June 2nd, 2020, YouTube^[11] user SwagItUp uploaded the audio to the platform, where it garnered over 3.4 million views in four years.

On December 19th, Chris Voiceman uploaded an extended version of the song to YouTube,^[12] where it garnered over 2.2 million views in four years (shown below).

Spread

In the 2020s, the parody song was frequently used and referenced in memes about PlayStation, its lack of exclusives, and its player base. For example, on September 5th, 2023, X^[13] user @KalebPrime made a post about Final Fantasy XVI being taken off the list of PlayStation 5 exclusives, referencing the meme. The post (shown below) garnered over 1,900 reposts and 15,000 likes in one year.

On September 10th, 2024, following the announcement of the PS5 Pro price tag and characteristics, an anonymous 4chan^[14] user posted a modified version of the parody song, with other users completing the lyrics.^[15]^[16] On that day, an anonymous user posted a completed version of the new parody song in /v/ ^[17] (shown below).

The remake was followed by users on /v/ making parody songs about PlayStation 5 based on other songs (example^[18] based on "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen shown below).
