Prior to January 30th, 2023, an unknown user created a reaction image pairing an image of a shrugging 3D emoji with the caption "One day, your knees will buckle under the weight of your endless sins" (shown below). On January 30th, 2023, iFunny[1] user Cringe_Warrior made the earliest discovered repost of the image.

The image received viral spread in the following week, being reposted and used as a reaction. For example, on January 31st, 2023, the Facebook[2] page Meme Mental Asylum reposted it with the post gaining over 850 reactions and 550 shares in six months. On May 19th, 2023, the Twitter[3] account @reactjpg archived the image, with the post gaining over 820 retweets and 5,200 likes.

The caption has been reused in reaction images featuring various other characters.
