About
Omoli is a character from the video game Omori, released in December 2020. Omoli is depicted as a sprout mole with hair who lives in a cardboard box on Cloud Walkway and asks the player for $20 when they encounter him. Although a minor character, Omoli became a fan favorite online, inspiring memes, fan art and other content depicting him.
Origin
On February 11th, 2021, YouTuber[1] Star Smiley uploaded a video of the encounter with Omoli from Omori, gaining over 43,000 views in a year (shown below). The player encounters Omoli, who resembles a sprout mole enemy with a swoopy haircut, on the Cloud Walkway. When the player speaks with Omoli, he says he's hungry and asks for $20. If the player gives Omoli $20, Omoli says, "Thanks …" and disappears. The player can leave the area, return and give Omoli $20 as many times as they wish. This is the only appearance of Omoli in the game.
On the same date, the official Omori Twitter[2] page, @omori_game, announced that the game was 20 percent off on Steam, writing, "OMOLI is pleased!" The tweet is accompanied by a comic where Omoli buys the game on Steam with $20, gaining over 9,000 likes and 1,800 retweets in a year (shown below).
