Omni-Man Blocks a Punch, also known as Mark Punches Omni-Man, is a meme from the Amazon Prime Video original series Invincible. The format is typically a two-panel object-labeling format that shows the character Omni-Man catching a punch aimed at him by his son Mark. Used as an exploitable, it is most prevalent on Reddit.

Origin

On April 30th, 2021, season one, episode eight of Invincible aired, serving as the season finale. At the opening of the episode, the superhero Mark battles his father Omni-Man after discovering his intention to force the Earth into the Viltrum Empire at the expense of many human lives. After being knocked to the ground by his father, Mark throws a punch at him, which Omni-Man catches effortlessly before crushing Mark’s hand. This occurs near the beginning of the fight scene (clip below), shortly before the line Look what they need to mimic a fraction of our power, which also became a meme format.

On June 14th, 2021, this meme was uploaded to /r/memetemplatesofficial[2] along with a format created by the original poster, u/AldousCarey4U. It received over 4,700 upvotes and 25 comments in under a week and began to be recreated elsewhere on Reddit.
