About
Oh No! We Suck Again! is a reaction image and image macro that comes from the 1998 Adam Sandler movie The Waterboy in which actor Rob Schneider shows dismay that the football team within the movie is once again terrible. This reaction image has been used in sports meme circles for over a decade by fans expressing disappointment that their team once again stinks.
Origin
Released on November 6th, 1998, the movie The Waterboy involves Adam Sandler's character, Bobby, getting very good at football, prompting a team that used to be bad to suddenly improve. Later in the movie, when Bobby quits the team, Rob Schneider's character is seen dejected, shouting that the team sucks again. On April 23rd, 2008, this scene was uploaded to YouTube by the channel elementbam93[1], where it received 117,000 views in 14 years (shown below).
The earliest known post of the meme was a November 26th, 2011, post to /r/CFB[5] by an unknown user, who wrote, "For UVA, GT, Auburn, Ohio St, etc."
Spread
On November 30th, 2014, the X user @NFLRT[2] used the meme following a disastrous game for the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers, who during the 2013 season ended with a winning record and the division title, found themselves with a 3-8-1 record following the loss to the Minnesota Vikings, prompting the image as a resignation to the team once again sucking (shown below).
The image continued to see minor usage in relation to sports teams. On June 11th, 2016, an anonymous[3] iFunny user uploaded a picture of LeBron James in his Cleveland Cavalier warm-up outfit, with the picture underneath saying that the team sucks again, as they had just fallen to a 3-1 deficit against the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals (however, the Cavaliers would later go on to be the first NBA team to reverse 3-1 and win (shown below).
Over the following years, it would continue to be used with slight edits revolving around sports teams. On May 27th, 2017, the Reddit user u/Coramoor_[4] uploaded a variation of the image in which the Columbus Crew SC is photoshopped on top of Rob Schneider's face, earning over 70 upvotes in seven years (shown below).
