About

Nutella Released a New Flavor For the First Time In 64 Years is a copypasta and catchphrase popularized on TikTok in early June 2025 after it was announced that Nutella had released a peanut-flavored spread, their first new flavor in roughly 60 years. That month, TikTokers began posting selfies and trend videos under the caption, "Nutella released a new flavor for the first time in 64 years," with many examples gaining hundreds of thousands to millions of views. The videos do not appear to be advertisements for the new flavor and were not disclosed as advertisements by the creators. While the videos usually say it's the first new flavor in 64 years, the real length of time is purportedly 61 years.

Origin

On May 9th, 2025, Ferrero released a roadmap on their website[1] announcing a handful of new product releases, including peanut-flavored Nutella spread in spring 2026.

On June 1st, TikToker[2] @kirkiimad posted a video set to the Black Eyed Peas song "Rock That Body" in which he poses under the caption, "Nutella released a new flavor for the first time in 64 years," despite the flavor not yet releasing and the span of time reportedly being 61 years.[3] The video garnered over 17 million views in five days.

Spread

Numerous videos using the same caption went viral on TikTok over the following days, most of them featuring someone reacting in an unrelated way to the news of Nutella's new flavor.

For example, on June 3rd, 2025, TikToker[4] @camfant posted a video using the caption that gained over 7.1 million views in three days.

On June 2nd, X[5] user @NickWK posted several examples of the meme, writing, "There is a trend on TikTok where people stare at the screen and write Nutella has a new flavor (peanut) and each video gets like a bajillion views."

On June 4th, 2025, TikToker[6] @ilxrsmnn posted a video following the trend, garnering over 1.6 million views in two days.
