"Now This is An Avengers Level Threat" is a memorable quote uttered by the character Mysterio in the 2019 Marvel superhero film Spider-Man: Far From Home. The quote, as well as a screen capture of Mysterio from the film has been used as a reaction image macro.

Origin

On June 28th, 2019, the film Spider-Man: Far From Home premiered in the United States. In the film, Mysterio (portrayed by Jake Gyllenhaal) reacts to one of his villainous illusions by saying, "Now this is an Avengers level threat."

About two weeks later, on July 9th, Redditor [1] 0w0-whats-this posted a screenshot from the film and with the line as the subtitles as the reaction to an illustration of Thomas the Tank Engine. The post received more than 100 points (97% upvoted) in less than one month (shown below).

Several days later, on July 13th, iFunny [2] user MDubz posted the image with a photograph of singer Billie Eilish, comparing the appearance of her and her brother's girlfriend. They edited the quote to read, "Now that is an Alabama level threat." The post received more than 100,000 upvotes in less than one month (shown below, left).

On August 2nd, Redditor[3] QuazaGD posted an variation of meme, accusing the streaming service Twitch of double standards. The post received more than 49,000 points (95% upvoted) and 460 comments (shown below, center).

Several days later, on August 5th, Redditor[4] 379447984 posted a variation that used the image to react to a photograph of four women with the Speak to the Manager Haircut. The post received more than 32,000 points (96% upvoted) and 180 comments in two days (shown below, right).
