Now that's what i call X is an online catchphrase taken from the series of anthology CDs "Now That's What I Call Music, which launched in the UK in the early '80s before spreading to America in the late '90s.

Origin

The Now That's What I Call Music! series was created in England in 1983. The series involved taking the most popular singles of the year and combining them into one compilation. The first American Now! CD^[2] was released on November 3rd, 1998. As of October 2014, the American series has put out 52 volumes.

On July 8th, 2011, Tumblr blog woodinwood^[3] posted a photo of a parody cover titled "Now That's What I Call a Cool Story Bro."

On August 12th, 2012, the Tumblr blog alternativeliterature^[7], a two-volume alternative literature compilation, was created.

On September 16th, 2013, Tumblr blog terminally-delightful^[4] posted a photo of a parody cover titled "Now That's What I Call Kawaii."

On October 29th, 2013, an image of a parody CD called "Wow That's What I Call Doge" has added to the Imgur album Braveryjerk.^[6] As of October 2014, the image has gained over 1,000 views.

On February 14th, 2014, redditor user charleston-kayak added an image to the r/funny^[5] subreddit titled "Perfect V-day gift for the crazy cat lady in your life" which featured a mock CD titled "Meow That's What I Call Cats." As of October 2014, the post has gained over 800 points.
