About

Nothinglikeyallcore, and its hashtag #nothinglikeyallcore, refers to a photo slideshow trend on TikTok that entails increasingly exploited and increasingly recaptioned iterations of the same meme which becomes deconstructed as the slideshow continues. The avant-garde and surreal trend's namesake is based on the I'm Nothing Like Y'all meme that shows a fish jumping out of a fishbowl as well as the "-core" suffix used to name trends like Corecore. Nothinglikeyallcore started in late 2023 within Hood Irony circles on TikTok. Notable memes a part of the trend are Paracetamol, the Normal Difficulty Face from Geometry Dash and a YouTube comment reading "Hi" posted by a user named George Harris SR on a Samsung phone review. Overall, most of the base images used in Nothinglikeyallcore slideshows were chosen at random by creators.

Origin

The first known instance of a Nothinglikeyallcore slideshow was posted by TikToker[1] @jaxsandy02 on September 7th, 2023. The slideshow used a Hood Irony sound from a TikToker named @illegalbugtrader and the photos in the slideshow were increasingly edited iterations of the "I'm Nothing Like Y'all" meme (shown below). Over two months, the slideshow gained roughly 1.1 million plays and 173,600 likes.

Spread

On the following day, September 8th, 2023, TikToker[2] @jaxsandy02 posted a similar slideshow that instead centered on the Paracetamol meme, receiving roughly 1.4 million plays and 220,200 likes in two months (examples shown below).

The trend was continued by TikToker[3] @jaxsandy02 in more slideshows going into October 2023. Then, others on the app started to replicate the slideshows, using the hashtag #nothinglikeyallcore on TikTok.[4] For instance, on October 19th, 2023, TikToker[5] @power_approaches posted a slideshow with increasingly edited versions of a Man Breaking Chains meme (shown below), gaining roughly 669,900 plays and 134,100 likes in two weeks.

During the same timeframe, video iterations of the trend started to surface, such as a video posted by TikToker[6] @radioolo on October 31st, 2023, which received roughly 20,800 plays and 1,800 likes in two days (shown below).

By November 2nd, 2023, #nothinglikeyallcore on TikTok[4] had amassed over 11 million views.
