About

Not Here, Kitten Whiskers, Daddy Will Discuss It Later or But Pookie refers to a scene from Shrek The Third where Rapunzel says to Prince Charming, "But pookie, you promised you wouldn't hurt them" after he threatens Fiona, to which he responds, "Not here, kitten whiskers, daddy will discuss it later." The scene has been criticized as strange for Charming's use of the word daddy. The scene inspired a lip-dub trend on TikTok in September 2021.

Origin

On May 6th, 2007, Shrek The Third was released in North America. In the latter half of the film, Fiona and a number of other princesses are trying to regain control of the castle from Prince Charming, who has Rapunzel on his side and set to be the new queen of Far Far Away. When he threatens Fiona, Rapunzel shows doubt in Charming, saying he promised not to hurt them. Charming leans in to her and says, "not here, kitten whiskers, daddy will discuss it later" (shown below).

Spread

Years later, the scene has been remembered as strange for its use of the term "daddy" for its sexual implications in the scene. This criticism is highlighted in a meme posted by Tumblr[4] user thekitchenboy on February 16th, 2016, sharing a photograph of a TV with the scene captioned "Time to kinkshame Prince Charming," gaining over 860 notes in five years (shown below).

On October 22nd, 2017, iFunny[1] user CharkDocolate posted a meme showing a subtitled screenshot of the scene and an additional caption reading, "Why did I never notice this as a child…?" (shown below).

Face Time Warp TikTok Trend

On January 6th, 2021, TikToker[2] @deanshannai posted the scene with custom subtitles, gaining over 1.2 million views in eight months. On September 10th, TikToker[3] @jimmyjoomer posted a video using the Face Time Warp TikTok filter to make their face resemble the rough shape of Prince Charming's while they quote one of his lines from Shrek, gaining over 10 million views in a week (shown below, left). On September 12th, she posted a "sequel" to that video, doing the same thing but with the original sound from @deanshannai's video, gaining over 1.2 million views in five days (shown below, right).

This video inspired other TikTokers to do the same, using the Face Time Warp filter then lip dubbing to the scene. On September 14th, TikToker @hana_daizy posted a version of the meme, gaining over 3.9 million views in three days (shown below, left). On September 16th, @maxtaylorlifts posted one, gaining over 3.6 million views in a day (shown below, right). As of September 17th, these are the two most popular videos using the sound, which has been used by over 18,600 TikTokers as of the same date.
