About

Noradrenaline is a hormone and neurotransmitter similar to adrenaline, which garnered significant attention in meme culture in 2024, with TikTokers greatly exaggerating its effects on one's body and strength. Ironic memes about the effects of noradrenaline typically involve powerscaling videos comparing one's power and feelings of rage when adrenaline vs. noradrenaline spikes in the body. "Noradrenaline" is often evoked in brain rot and Those Who Know style memes, and came to be paired in slang overload jokes alongside still water and Balkan Rage in September 2024.

Origin

While it is unclear where the myth about noradrenaline being more "potent" or "powerful" than adrenaline originated, the earliest notable TikTok powerscaling the two hormones and neurotransmitters was posted on December 8th, 2023, with TikToker[1] @anamariamouradasi gathering over 5 million plays and 130,000 likes in 11 months.

Spread

TikTokers began posting ironic videos about "experiencing" noradrenaline in 2024, with @bigmanmalone[2] gathering over 2.7 million views and 71,000 likes on a June 29th, 2024, upload.

On June 30th, TikToker[3] @kirkiimad made a video joking about a guy "with adrenaline" fighting a guy "with noradrenaline," gathering over 500,000 plays and 29,000 likes in five months.

On July 8th, TikToker[4] @mcoyster posted a video mocking people who post about noradrenaline being a potent hormone unique from adrenaline, gathering over 100,000 plays and 2,000 likes in four months.

Jokes about "noradrenaline" spread outside of TikTok in October 2024, as seen in an October 3rd, 2024, post by X[5] user @seiyaposting that gathered over 3,000 likes in a day.
