Noobmaster69 refers to a minor off-screen character in 2019 Marvel superhero film Avengers: Endgame who verbally insults Thor's companion Korg in voice chat during an online match in battle royale game Fortnite. Following the premiere of the film, the character has been referenced in memes and fan theories online.
Origin
On April 26th, 2019, Marvel superhero film Avengers: Endgame premiered in the United States.[1] In one scene of the film, character Korg complains to his friend Thor about being harassed by a Fortnite player nicknamed Noobmaster69.[2] Thor then proceeds to take over Korg's headset and threaten the player into leaving the match.
Noobmaster, hey, it’s Thor again. You know, the God of Thunder? Listen, buddy, if you don’t log off this game immediately I will fly over to your house, come down to that basement you’re hiding in, rip off your arms and shove them up your butt! Oh, that’s right, yes, go cry to your father you little weasel!

Following the premiere of the movie, the character has been referenced in humorous posts on Twitter, Reddit and other platforms. On April 27th, 2019, Twitter user @tripleWrech tweeted "Imagine your gamertag being 'noobmaster69' as you see #AvengersEngame", gaining 25 retweets and over 720 likes in two days.[3] On April 28th, Twitter user @iobtainclout used Ninja Rages at Kid video as a reference to the scene, with the tweet accumulating over 500 upvotes and 1500 likes in two days.[4]
On April 29th, 2019, Redditor TheTakenMinotaur posted the Thor's dialogue in the scene to /r/copypasta subreddit, where it gained over 8,000 upvotes in 12 hours.[5] In several memes posted to /r/Endgame subreddit, users jokingly speculated that Noobmaster69 could be an online handle of Loki.[6][7] In some examples, Noobmaster69 was compared to TheLegend27, a fictional character turned meme from a 2016 mobile game ad.
In real-life Fortnite, a player nicknamed Noobmaster69 played a total of 143 matches prior to the premiere of the movie, scoring 79 kills and achieving zero victiories in total as of April 26th, 2019.[8]
