About
Nintendo Has Forgotten About Mario is a catchphrase and series of memes based on a highly criticized viral video essay posted by YouTuber Nin10doland after a September 2022 Nintendo Direct stream titled "Nintendo Has FORGOTTEN About Mario…" In the video, the YouTuber wonders why Mario seems to get fewer mainline games than other Nintendo characters. The video became the subject of memes following its release, with many finding the premise weak, inspiring Nin10doland to apologize and privatize the video.
Origin
On September 15th, 2022, following the September 13th Nintendo Direct livestream,[1] YouTuber Nin10doland posted a video essay titled "Nintendo Has FORGOTTEN About Mario…" in which he complains about the absence of a mainline Super Mario game being announced during the stream. He acknowledges that several new Mario spinoff games were coming out at the time, but wonders why there hadn't been a mainline Mario game since Super Mario Odyssey, at the time, suggesting they're probably working on something but expressing frustrations over how long it was taking. The video was removed (reupload shown below).[2]

The video became the subject of memes and criticism over the following days. He claims he was trying to express his frustrations over the lack of a new mainline Mario game while other main Nintendo IPs get new games and apologizes if he "came off angry." He says people "took it the wrong way" and insists he likes other Nintendo IPs. He also admits that the video title was misleading. The video gained over 25,000 views in two years (shown below, right).
