About

Nice Cock refers to an image macro series based on images of various characters captioned with the compliment "Nice Cock." Stemming from an image of Shadow the Hedgehog captioned with the phrase, the macros have been used both as reaction images and for ironic meme purposes. The meme later mutated to include "Nice Pussy," "Why Is It So Small" and other variations, with some users printing out the memes and putting them up in public toilets.

Origin

On December 28th, 2018, Redditor[1] ProfessorCyanid3 posted a low-resolution image of Sonic the Hedgehog character Shadow the Hedgehog captioned "Nice Cock Retard" (image shown, left). The post received over 520 upvotes in /r/okbuddyretard subreddit in six months. On January 12th, 2019, Redditor[2] Harryism posted a cropped version of the "meme to /r/okbuddyretard, receiving over 670 upvotes in six months (shown below, right).

Spread

In the following months, the cropped image was circulated on Instagram and Reddit,[3] as well as used as a reaction on Twitter.[4] On February 13th, 2019, Instagram[5] user ai.bean made the first known derivative meme based on the catchphrase (shown below).

On May 16th, 2019, YouTube[6] channel SuperMega posted a Let's Play video of SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom. In the video, a scene in which SpongeBob compliments Patrick on a nice sock has been edited to read "Hey Patrick, nice cock." The video gained over 495,000 views in seven months.

Oh, a sock! Justin, can you edit that clip real quick? You see the C in "sock?" Replace it over the S, so it says "Hey Patrick, nice cock."

In the following months, still images of the edited scene have been used on Twitter[7][8] as reaction images (shown below, left).

Starting in May 2019, several Nice Cock image macros were posted in /r/okbuddyretard[9] subreddit, with the format also gaining popularity in /r/ComedyNecrophilia[10] in mid-July 2019 in addition to posts on Instagram and iFunny.[11] For example, an ironic meme by Redditor[12] d_Mayonnaise posted on July 21st, 2019, received over 14,300 upvotes in /r/okbuddyretard (shown below, center). A November 21st, Nice Cock macro[13] featuring G-Man received over 3,600 upvotes in the subreddit (shown below, right).
