Never Subbed Never Donated, also known as Never Donate Never Sub, is a Twitch chat copypasta used on the streaming platform, other websites and social media platforms online. The copypasta is typically punctuated with emotes or emojis in-between each statement, most commonly featuring the TriHard emote, and is also associated with the TriHard emote. It’s typically used as a form of spam on Twitch for being a leech, but can also be seen on numerous platforms as a way to reply to a streamer or their actions that someone disagrees with and does not support subscribing to or donating to. When streamers complain about people not supporting them, viewers will also commonly spam it. Much like the rapid rise of the TriHard emote, the meme originates from the Ice Posideon community and his followers.

Origin

The exact first use of the Never Subbed copypasta is unknown, as Ice Posideon’s subreddits and Twitch channel have been deleted or removed from the platforms numerous times. The meme stems from Ice Posideon’s various communities that are revolved around the streamer, first appearing online sometime in 2016. Because of the use of the TriHard emote, its use is somewhat controversial and is seen as a form of racism by many, similar to the emote itself. Typically, the copypasta can be seen being spammed in this form:

It also frequently features the use of the TriHard emote throughout (seen below).

Spread

After initially being spread by Ice Posideon’s following, the meme also became prominent within Forsen’s and GreekGodx’s communities. On the r/Forsen sub, Redditor^[1] 6in uploaded an example of the pasta being used in chat on November 18th, 2016 (seen below).

Particularly on his subreddit, r/Greekgodx, one such example was posted on August 11th, 2017, by Redditor^[2] dolinar. The post (shown below) uses the copypasta as the title, receiving 118 upvotes and 15 comments.

On August 13th, 2017, Twitter^[3] user MexicanAndySZN can also be seen using the meme in a reply to a tweet. The tweet (seen below) was liked 27 times and retweeted four times.

A parody video (shown below) featuring the meme appeared on YouTube and Reddit on October 18th, 2018, under the title, “NEVER SUBBED NEVER DONATED ADBLOCK ON STOLEN LAPTOP NEIGHBOURS'S WIFI FREE ENTERTAINMENT.” Redditor^[4] ItzMasayoshi first posted it to the r/LivestreamFail sub, receiving over 3,800 upvotes and 146 comments.

Twitch^[5] streamer InvaderVie can also be seen referencing the meme in a Just Chatting livestream on January 18th, 2019. The clip has been viewed 1,548 times.

On February 18th, 2019, another post to the r/Greekgodx subreddit can be seen from Redditor^[6] the_ppyro. This type of repost using the title, “<-- THIS MANY PEOPLE HAVE NEVER SUBBED OR DONATED, USE ADBLOCK AND NEIGHBOURS WIFI AND HAVE STOLEN LAPTOP,” appears on the sub several times over the years. The post (seen below) was upvoted over 1,200 times.
