On June 7th, 2022, Twitter user @elisawine14^[1] posted, "I'm a 42 year old born and raised New Yorker. Never in my entire life have I felt the fear, tension, and anxiety I feel living in NYC right now. The city is like a ticking time bomb. Like everytime I step outside my apartment something bad could happen. It's scary to be here." The tweet gained over 530 retweets, 1,400 quote tweets and 3,000 likes in three days (shown below).

In the days following @elisawine14's read of New York City, Twitter users, particularly New Yorkers, began parodying it as a snowclone, altering some details in the original tweet for humorous ends.
