About
Never Broke a Bone Theory refers to the supposed spiritual meaning of never breaking a bone, with the most prevalent claim being that if you have never broken a bone you have been chosen to go through increased mental or spiritual hardships in life and, therefore, are being protected from the extra, physical burden of broken bones. The theory plausibly stems from Psalms 34:19-20 in the Bible and went viral on TikTok in late December 2024, inspiring videos vaguely alluding to the concept.
Origin
While the exact origins of the "never broke a bone" theory are unclear, it is believed to be derived from the Bible. In the Bible,[1] Psalms 34:19-20 reads:
The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all; he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken.
On December 27th, 2024, TikToker[2] @obviously_makenzie posted a selfie video captioned, "I just found out what it means if you never broken a bone and it makes so much sense I can't stop crying," garnering over 19.5 million views in a week. This is the earliest known viral video to allude to the theory. It is unclear where the TikToker heard about the theory.
