Negroni Sbagliato With Prosecco In It, also known as Negroni Sbagliato with Prosecco Meme, refers to a viral video of actor Emma D'Arcy reciting their favorite drink order during an interview for the HBO Game of Thrones series House of the Dragon. The clip became popularized on TikTok in October 2022 with many posters finding D'Arcy's voice and overall demeanor very attractive, and oddly ubiquitous on their "For You" pages.
Origin
On September 22nd, 2022, HBO Max's official YouTube channel posted a promotional video for the series House of the Dragon featuring actors Emma D'Arcy and Olivia Cooke asking each other random questions. At just before the two-minute mark of the video (seen below) Cooke asks D'Arcy what their drink of choice is.
Spread
The "Negroni Sbagliato" moment in the interview received attention on September 22nd, 2022, on Twitter[2] from @pursuitofra who posted this tweet (seen below) but received zero likes over the course of three weeks.
The YouTube video received responses on TikTok as early as September 30th, 2022, with users posting collages of D'Arcy's voice and expressing their attraction to them. But the specific "Negroni Sbagliato" moment was first singled out on October 6th, 2022, with many users posting duets of themselves reacting to the video of Cooke interviewing D'Arcy. One of the more popular videos, from user e1e4n0r5 posted on October 7th, 2022, received over 2.3 million views and almost 300,000 likes in two days.[3]
In tweets, posters commented about how widespread the video seemed to be on For You pages on TikTok. For example, Twitter[4] @sansaskywalkers shared on October 8th, 2022 about how the video's omnipresence on a For You Page might mark a person's belonging to the LGBTQ+ community, receiving over 200 likes in a day. Others just joked about the intensity of D'Arcy's delivery, such as Twitter[5] user @biettetimmons who posted on October 8th, 2022 that D'Arcy should play James Bond, receiving over 13,000 likes in less than a day.
