On August 1st, 2024, TikToker^[1] @rakkutron posted a Chainsaw Man fan animation in which the character Denji is animated singing the song "Nasty Dog" by Sir Mix-a-Lot to Makima, garnering over 4.1 million views in just under a month (shown below). This is the earliest known example of the meme.

Spread

The song was popularized as the subject of similar animation memes on TikTok, YouTube and X over the following days. For example, on August 8th, 2024, YouTuber^[2] metal posted a version of the meme based on One Piece, garnering over 30,000 views in two weeks.

On August 17th, TikToker^[3] @t3ddys3dits posted a version of the meme referencing the 2024 movie Deadpool & Wolverine, garnering over 1.4 million views in 10 days.

On August 22nd, 2024, X^[4] user @yuzupaw posted a version of the meme referencing the anime series Delicious In Dungeon, garnering over 40,000 likes in five days.
