My Students Are All Morons refers to a viral TikTok trend in which artists redraw famous teacher characters on top of Dan Hentschel's parody meltdown video saying "my students are all morons." The trend grew popular at the end of February 2024, sparking redraws of anime characters like Jujutsu Kaisen's Satoru Gojo, Naruto's Kakashi-Sensei and many other mentor-like characters.

Origin

Although Dan Hentschel's is banned from TikTok as of March 2024, the earliest found upload of his parody video having a meltdown in his car saying "my students are all morons" was posted on February 21st, 2024, by user @aubreysnailedbat^[1]. The video (shown below, left) amassed over 287,000 plays and 6,100 likes in a month.

A day after the video was uploaded, on February 22nd, 2024, TikTok^[2] user @lozer2232783750408 posted a redraw of his expressions based on Baldi's Basics in Education and Learning meme. The post (shown below, right) garnered over 22,000 plays and 2,300 likes in a month.

Spread

Over the course of a week, many artists started to share their redraws based on prominent mentor and teacher-like characters on top of Hentschel's viral video. For example, on February 28th, 2024, TikTok^[3] user @abi_the_alien posted a redraw inspired by Jujutsu Kaisen's character Satoru Gojo, (shown below, left), which amassed over 543,000 plays and 103,000 likes in a month. On March 3rd, 2024, TikTok^[4] user @sof88c posted a redraw version inspired by Naruto's Kakashi-Sensei (shown below, right), which received roughly 2.3 million plays and 422,000 likes in a week.
