My Reaction To That Information is a catchphrase used in various images and GIF captions. The phrase is often paired with nonsensical or absurd images as a means of parodying typical reaction image memes.

Origin

On April 1st, 2022, the first known usage of "My reaction to that information appeared on iFunny, ^[3] where it was shared by user DarkNihilus322 (shown below). The meme pairs the caption with a selfie of a black man, which would be used in subsequent variations of the meme. As the iiFunny post gained no likes or comments, it's possible that it was a repost of a meme from a closed internet community, such as a Discord server, but that is unproven.

Spread

Over the course of April 2022, the image circulated around various platforms such as Twitter and was adapted to YouTube videos featuring other characters. For example on April 23rd, 2022, YouTube^[1] user Phyrozz uploaded an early video variation titled "my reaction to that information meme." The video received 11,000 views in two weeks (shown below, left). On April 30th, 2022, YouTube^[2] user Meme Zee uploaded the most popular iteration of the format. The video received more than 370,000 views in one week (shown below, right).

On April 25th, the blog Daily Statuss^[4] uploaded a gallery featuring several iterations of the meme (examples shown below). Additionally, "my reaction to that information" has been used as a catchphrase on Twitter with which to post absurd reaction images in April and May of 2022.^[5]
