My Heart, also known as Expanding Heart, is an image macro series featuring sequential illustrations of a heart vibrating with progressively increased frequency paired with descriptions of various activities and events, indicating their influence on a person's relative heart rate.
Origin
On September 3rd, 2017, Instagram user @ryantheprogenji[1] posted a chart listing "resting," "exercising" and "talking to the person who I care about most and adore" next to illustrations of a progressively vibrating heart (shown below). While the Instagram feed has since been made private, the image was reposted by the Positive-Memes Tumblr on September 4th.
Spread
On September 9th, 2017, the Science Memes Facebook[3] page posted a variation of the image ending with a rapidly beating heart paired with a message about a chemistry experiment (shown below). Within five days, the post gathered upwards of 21,000 reactions, 10,000 comments and 3,000 shares.
On September 11th, Redditor earlsweaty posted the image captioned with a joke about "making a phone call" causing a rapid heart rate (shown below, left). Within 72 hours, the post gathered upwards of 19,200 points (94% upvoted) and 140 comments on /r/2meirl4meirl.[2] On September 13th, Redditor Theboss12312 posted a variation captioned with a joke about saying "frick" on a Christian Minecraft server (shown below, right).
