About
My Flight Attendant Just Came Up to Me refers to a snowclone made in parody of a tweet by PragerU employee Will Witt in which he described a flight attendant shaking his hand and whispering their thanks to him, before saying "One day, people will be able to say they are conservatives without fear of shame." In parodies of the tweet, Twitter users changed the word "conservative" to other, more humorous adjectives.
Origin
On March 27th, 2019, conservative social media personality Will Witt tweeted "My flight attendant just came up to me, shook my hand and said, 'it’s an honor to have you on this flight. I know who you are. Thank you for everything you do.' She had to whisper it though sadly. One day, people will be able to say they are conservatives without fear of shame."[1] The tweet gained over 2,300 retweets and 15,000 likes (shown below).
Spread
People were quick to question the credulity of the tweet. User @HoarseWisperer[5] tweeted a pie-chart joke illustrating they didn't believe the story, gaining over 130 retweets and 2,800 likes (shown below, left). User @Hilaryagro[4] posted a sarcastic, fantastical continuation of Witt's story, gaining over 90 retweets and 2,500 likes (shown below, right).
Others on Twitter parodied Witt's tweet by turning it into a snowclone, changing the identity in the last sentence to something humorous. Satirical website @HardDriveMag[3] posted a snowclone parody with "gamers," gaining 300 retweets and 2,300 likes (shown below, left). Simpsons writer Bill Oakley[2] tweeted a parody that gained over 50 retweets and 700 likes (shown below, right).
