About

My Chud Son, also known as Chud Son or My Chud Son That I Hate, refers to a series of memes about the meme creator's imagined son who's a Chud, making him annoying and despicable. Memes about My Chud Son originally surfaced on Twitter / X in 2023, continuing into 2024 as the catchphrases spread across social media platforms. My Chud Son builds on previous memes about "sons" like Large Adult Sons from original Weird Twitter users like Dril.

Origin

The earliest discovered usage of the term "chud son" was a quote tweet shared by X[1] user @FoldableHuman on September 13th, 2018, reading, "I spend my time discouraging my chud sons from studying Theatre, Music, Sociology, or English, but I'm still going to pretend to be surprised when none of my chud sons are studying the things I told them not to bother studying." The quote gained over 360 likes in six years.

The post quoted a since-deleted tweet from X[2] user @toadmeister that showed a graph of a "Jaw-dropping study of the extent of left-wing bias in top U.S. universities" (recreation shown below).

Despite the aforementioned post, usage of Chud Son didn't receive widespread memetic usage until early 2023, seemingly started by X[3] user @ViagraPussy on January 14th, 2023, who tweeted, "this a picture of my chud son that I hate," receiving over 30 likes in a year (shown below).

Spread

Going into 2023, Chud Son memes received minor spread on X. For instance, on March 12th, 2023, X[4] user @blephin_ shared a photo of Daniel Larson in a restaurant booth, captioned, "My chud son," gaining over 120 likes in a year (shown below).

Later in 2023, X[5] user @blephin_ received better engagement for Chud Son posts, like a tweet shared on December 29th, 2023, that amassed over 1,500 likes in 10 months (shown below).

On February 26th, 2024, X[8] user @chronakey quoted an image with an anime girl destroying "Western Twitter," writing, "My chud son sent me this image after I told him to wash the dishes," gaining over 25,000 likes in eight months (shown below).

Going into 2024, viral posts using Chud Son continued online. For instance, on August 11th, X[7] user @fallenchungus shared a webcomic captioned, "injecting concentrated AI fluid into my chud son so he leads a miserable life and dies," receiving over 7,100 likes in two months (shown below).
