Mug Blooded American is an ironic, patriotic country song about Mug Root Beer by TikToker @mugenjoyer. The song was posted to TikTok in January 2022 and inspired ironic Mug memes in late February and early March of that year. The videos often hype up Mug over other drinks and substances. The meme shares similarities with the I Love Lean!!! format.

Origin

TikToker^[1] @mugenjoyer began posting ironic videos about Mug Root Beer on December 15th, 2021. His videos feature purposefully low-quality audio and video and rely on exaggerated jokes about how great Mug is, framing it as a drink for patriots and hardworking Americans (examples shown below). The TikToker speaks in an exaggerated southern accent.

On January 26th, 2022, @mugenjoyer posted an original 25-second song recorded in his usual low-quality mic to TikTok^[2] titled "Mug Blooded American" (shown below). The video features lyrics about how patriotic Mug is, implying it's a cure for epilepsy and an alternative to the COVID-19 vaccine. The video gained over 414,000 views in just over two months.

On February 11th, 2022, TikToker^[3] @themugmaniac1 posted a GigaChad meme hyping up the song, gaining over 17,000 views in a month (shown below).

The Original Sound for "Mug Blooded American" became further popularized on TikTok in late February throughout early March 2022 as TikTokers began making ironic memes about the drink, often playing off the themes from the song including patriotism and prior Mug Moment memes. On February 24th, TikToker @rsmith694 posted a video showing himself on water vs. Mug, gaining over 158,000 views in a week (shown below).

On February 27th, TikToker^[6] @maxbur27 posted a video where a silhouetted drawing of a muscular Mug dog fades into the song 150,000 views in four days (shown below, left). On March 2nd, TikToker^[7] @xllfg posted a compilation of Mug memes along with a video of a dog dancing to the song, gaining over 808,000 views in a day (shown below, right).

Mug Dog

Some TikTokers began posting ironic videos of English Bulldogs and other dogs that resemble the Mug mascot claiming it to be the "Mug dog," including TikTokers^[4][5] @thedogfrommugrootbeer. On February 28th, 2022, the account posted a video claiming the dog died, gaining over 600,000 views in three days (shown below, left). On March 1st, he posted a video training with the dog, gaining over 761,000 views in two days (shown below, right).
