About

MrBeast6000 Edits refers to a series of sigma grindset edits on TikTok using old footage of MrBeast from when he went by the handle MrBeast6000 and made edgier content and jokes, along with new MrBeast footage that is reminiscent of his old content. The edits and memes sometimes suggest MrBeast is making a "return to MrBeast6000" and became popularized on TikTok in December 2022 throughout early 2023.

Origin

The YouTuber now known as MrBeast began posting content to YouTube in 2012 and originally used the handle MrBeast6000. In an August 3rd, 2015, video uploaded to his YouTube[1] channel, MrBeast discusses the handle and how he changes his YouTube name occasionally to names including "Mr.Beast" and "Beast." He says that he chose "MrBeast6000" originally because it had numbers in the name and few big YouTubers have numbers in their name, plus it made him easier to search on YouTube. At the end of the video, he says he'll change his YouTube name back to "MrBeast6000" (shown below).

MrBeast's early content as MrBeast6000 consisted of comedy skits, commentary and Let's Play videos. The content and comedy of these videos are often considered "edgier" than his later videos. For example, on November 29th, 2016, MrBeast uploaded a video to YouTube[2] titled "I Mailed Myself IN A BOX & it REALLY WORKED! (Human Mail Challenge)" that includes a skit where he jokes that he won't get arrested for robbing a store because he's white (shown below).

On December 23rd, 2022, TikToker[3] @madarachyan posted a "versus" video comparing the stats of MrBeast to MrBeast6000, declaring MrBeast6000 the winner, garnering over 1.4 million views in a month (shown below). This is one of the earliest known examples of a MrBeast6000 edit.

On December 27th, 2022, TikToker[4] @not_bright_ posted an edit of a clip from a MrBeast6000 video in which he turns into a Black man after clicking an internet ad for penis enlargement, garnering over 2.1 million views in a month (shown below).

On December 31st, MrBeast Gaming uploaded a video to YouTube[5] in which people make objects in Minecraft that they want MrBeast to buy them in real life. In the video, MrBeast and his friends rank each item out of 10, with the winner getting funded. At the 5:48-minute mark, MrBeast gives a man who wants an engagement ring for his girlfriend a 10/10. Later at the 9:16-minute mark in the video, he gives a man who wants an engagement ring for his boyfriend a 7/10. On January 2nd, 2023, TikToker[6] @_yoking posted a sigma-style edit of the video, writing, "Mr.beast6000 slowly leaking through again," garnering over 2.7 million views in a month (shown below, left). On January 4th, TikToker[7] @hustlerrbiz posted a video captioned "MrBeast6000 is back!" garnering over 1.4 million views in roughly the same span of time (shown below, right).
