Mr. Krabs' Final Hours (also known as AND NOTHING HAPPENED) refers to a series of exploitable memes based on images of Mr. Krabs, SpongeBob and Squidward from the Nickelodeon series SpongeBob SquarePants dancing to unsettling images of destruction. The videos are often accompanied by an audio track of "Final Hours"^[1] (also known as "Last Day," "Final Day" or "Clock Town Day 3") from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.

Origin

The earliest known instance of the meme was first posted on YouTube^[2] by user ArchivingTheInternetsGreatest^[3] on Aug 17, 2016. According to the video description the original version of the meme is from a now-deleted video by YouTube user AWFUL FAWFUL^[4]. Originally, the meme featured the song 'Інтро' by XENELAS rather than the Majora's mask soundtrack.

Spread

The meme wouldn't gain traction until 2021 when Reddit user WeepingWillow777^[5] posted an edited version of the video^[6] with unsettling text on /r/distressingmemes,^[7] where it would recieve 2.4k points (shown below).

Further alterations of this meme would be posted on the subreddit over the next few days and gain further traction. Other examples include a January 5th, 2022 post by AnthonyIsBack2008^[8] that gained over 970 points (shown below, left). User stillstuckinthesim22^[9] posted an example the same day that gained over 1,200 points (shown below, right).
