Move, I'm Gay is a quote said by the character Dorian Ditsen in a parody video of The Office TV series. The video, titled "Angry Office (OFFENSIVE)," went viral on Vine and YouTube in September 2015, and the catchphrase was later adapted into GIFs, image macros and other meme formats shared on social media in the following years.

Origin

On September 20th, 2015, YouTube[1] creator Brandon Rodgers uploaded a comedy skit titled "Angry Office (OFFENSIVE)," parodying the American version of the TV series The Office. During a scene in the skit, the character portrayed by comedian Brandon Rogers, Dorian Ditsen, pushes a co-worker in his way saying, "Move, I'm Gay." The video (seen below) garnered over 28 million plays and 638,000 likes in eight years.

Spread

On November 6th, 2015, the clip was uploaded to Vine[2] by user @Plsstop. The post (seen below) garnered over 11.5 million loops and 2,700 likes in eight years.


The phrase also became a prominent catchphrase used in posts related to LGBTQ+ content. For example, on December 22nd, 2016, the Facebook[3] page Just a Fangirl posted a video of girls dancing and the caption "move I'm gay." The post (seen below) garnered over 210 likes and 39 comments in seven years.
