About
Motteke! Sailor Fuku (Japanese: もってけ!セーラーふく; English: Take It! Sailor Uniform) is the opening theme song for the Japanese anime television series Lucky Star. The song is often included in fan works and parody videos on the Japanese video sharing service

Origin
The anime series Lucky Star aired in Japan between April 8th and September 16th, 2007. The show's opening theme "Motteke! Sailor Fuku" is a typical "denpa music" style song composed by Satoru_Kōsaki[1], famous for writing several other songs for various anime shows and video games, including The iDOLM@STER and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. The theme was sung by Lucky Star voice actors Aya Hirano,[2] Emiri Katō,[3] Kaori Fukuhara[4] and Aya Endō.[5] Kyoto Animation also produced an animated dance for the song, similar to the Hare Hare Yukai dance from the anime The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. A portion of the dance was shown in the show's opening sequence (shown below, left) and the full version appeared in the last episode aired on September 16th, 2007 (shown below, right).
Spread
The song's dance and opening animation have spawned numerous parodies and live action performances with the help of Kadokawa's accommodating attitude toward fan creations on the web.[6][7] In May of 2007, Japanese anime Otaku launched an online campaign to cause the CD release of the song to reach the #1 spot on the Oricon weekly music sales chart.[8]. A wiki page was created titled "Let's Go to the Top of Oricon Chart with Lucky Star!,"[9] which documented the group's efforts. Calls to action were posted on several Japanese community sites, including NND, 2Channel and the social networking service mixi. Offline meet-ups were organized for groups purchasing the CD which were held in several Japanese cities.[10][11]

Dance Performance Photo & Video
"Motteke! Sailor Fuku" sold 65,907 copies in its first week but was 2,000 copies short of topping the chart.[12] The following day, Bandai Visual[13] published a press release announcing the sale numbers, which was subsequently reported by several Japanese news sites.[14]
