Morbius Poster Parodies and Morbius Poster Mashups is an internet trend that involves photoshopping the movie poster for the 2022 film Morbius by replacing the human or vampire part of Michael Morbius' face, with another character. The exploitable format gained virality as a part of the ironic Morbius meme trend in early 2022, which also includes Morbius Sweep, Morb and It's Morbin Time memes.

Origin

In early April 2022, following the virality of Morbius Sweep memes that ironically celebrated the 2022 film Morbius as a massive commercial and critical success, an unknown user created a mashup edit of the poster for the movie, replacing Morbius' vampire part of the face with Freddy Fazbear from Five Nights at Freddy's (shown below). On April 10th, 2022, Twitter^[1] user @dumpst3rfire69 made the earliest found post of the meme, with the image gaining five retweets and 22 likes. On April 18th, Twitter^[2] account @fazfacts_ tweeted the image, with the post gaining 200 retweets and over 2,400 likes in one month.

Spread

On April 25th, 2022, Redditor^[3] indirectly_unseated posted a mashup poster with Heisenberg from Breaking Bad edited in to replace the human part of Morbius' face (authorship unconfirmed, shown below, left). The post gained over 730 upvotes in one month. On April 29th, 2022, Twitter^[4] user @MLSpence3D created a Poppy Playtime parody of the post that gained over 260 retweets and 3,200 likes in one month (shown below, right).

On May 10th, iFunny^[5] user lifewasmadesowecouldsufer posted a The Devil Shivers version of the meme that gained over 18,500 smiles in two weeks and was widely circulated through reposts in the following weeks (shown below).

The format achieved further spread online after the memes It's Morbin Time and Morb went viral in mid-May 2022. The format has often been used in conjunction with "The Devil Shivers" caption.
