Mommy? What Is It Caillou?, also known as Can I Get Roblox On My Xbox? or Can I Get Minecraft On My PC?, refers to a series of videos by TikToker @thevincentmottola in which he sings rap songs as Caillou asking his mom if he can get Roblox on his Xbox or Minecraft on his PC. The original Minecraft video was posted in October 2022 and inspired lip dubs, with the Roblox sequel releasing that November and inspiring a similar response. In February 2023, South Park featured the trend in the season 26 premiere episode where Kyle and Tolkien become TikTok stars, with the clip going viral shortly after and inspiring others to do the trend.

Can I Get Minecraft On My PC?

On October 19th, 2022, TikToker^[1] @thevincentmottola posted a video singing an original song where he plays the alternating roles of Caillou and his mom. In the song, Caillou asks his mom if he can get Minecraft on his PC and she asks if it's free. Caillou says it's $30, but his mom refuses to buy it and then suggests other games, all of which Caillou refuses. Finally, she suggests he plays with his sister Rosie and he screams, "Mommy!" The video gained over 10.9 million views in four months (shown below).

Can I Get Roblox On My Xbox?

On November 8th, 2022, TikToker^[2] @thevincentmottola posted a sequel to the original Caillou rap song. This time, Caillou asks his mom if he can get Roblox on his Xbox. She asks if it's free, and he says that it is, she says it's okay, then Rosie comes in and asks if she can play, too. Caillou refuses to let her so his mom doesn't let him play Roblox. The video gained over 3.9 million views in three months (shown below).

Each video inspired lip dub skits and animations under their original sounds, the original seeing over 3,500 uses and the latter seeing over 2,600 uses by February 2023. The lip dubs became prevalent in early 2023. For example. on January 14th, 2023, TikToker^[3] @frever_uni posted an animation to the Minecraft song, garnering over 24 million views in a month (shown below, left). On January 16th, TikToker^[4] @lucieb.com posted a video to the Roblox song, garnering over 2.1 million views in a month (shown below, right).

South Park Season 26 Premiere

On February 8th, 2023, the season 26 premiere of South Park aired, titled "Cupid Ye." In the episode, Kyle and Tolkien become TikTok famous at their school and perform trends to several real TikTok audios, including the Roblox version of the "Mommy? What Is It Caillou?" trend. On February 10th, 2023, TikToker^[5] @leafabae posted a video putting the South Park clip next to the original, garnering over 1.1 million views in three days (shown below).

The feature on South Park increased the popularity of the original sound, inspiring videos referencing it (examples shown below).
