About
Mock Interrogation refers to a dialogue meme parodying a film trope in which law enforcement officers or criminals holding someone captive attempt to extract information from someone using brutal interrogation methods. In the parodies, the interrogator attempts to get the protagonist to say something relatively benign, which the protagonist refuses to do despite often getting beaten.
Origin
On September 19th, 2014, Tumblr user jobhaver[1] posted a dialogue parodying The X-Files, in which the FBI is trying to get the main character, Mulder, to reveal the location of "space weed." The post gained over 111,000 notes, and was cited by Meme Documentation as the first example of the meme.[2]

The format spread on Tumblr through several popular posts over the coming months.
