About

"Mix It" MoneyMarr Dance Trend or the JoJoShuffle refers to a TikTok dance trend set to MoneyMarr's 2020 song "Mix It" in which TikTokers perform an exaggerated mixing-bowl or arm-rolling motion with their arms and skip away from the camera. The trend was popularized in late July and August 2021, originally started by TikToker @kiingjojo.inc.

Origin

On an unknown date, TikToker @kiingjojo.inc invented and started performing a new original dance called the "JoJoShuffle" on TikTok.[1] Videos performing it go back to June 2021 in which he performs arm-roll movements while skipping rhythmically with high knees away from the camera. On June 13th, he did the dance to MoneyMarr's song "Mix It," gaining over 700,000 views in two months (shown below).

Spread

By the start of August 2021, the dance spread notably across TikTok. On August 9th, @kiingjojo.inc posted a video to TikTok responding to a comment telling him nobody would ever do the JoJoShuffle, showcasing people doing the dance, gaining over 3.5 million views in two weeks (shown below).

The dance saw a significant increase in interest around mid-August when TikTokers began performing it under the official sound for the track rather than an unofficial one. In many videos, the TikTokers use a bowl-mixing motion rather than an arm roll. For example, on August 18th, TikToker[2] @annacatefraley_ performed the dance, gaining over 11 million views in five days (shown below, left). On August 29th, TikToker[3] @lorengray did the dance, gaining over 3.5 million views in four days (shown below, right).
