Minecraft Steve Trolling People refers to a series of humorous IRL video game edits of FAIL videos in which character Steve from Minecraft is edited in in a way as if his actions are responsible for these FAILs. Made by an Instagram meme page, the edits saw viral spread online in November 2024.
Origin
On November 6th, 2024, Instagram[1] page funcutss posted a humorous IRL Minecraft edit of a FAIL video in which a man falls from the top level of a bunk bed during sleep. In the edit, Steve destroys protective barriers on the side of the bed, causing the man to fall. The edit (shown below) garnered over 5.6 million likes on Instagram in ten days.
Spread
On November 7th, 2024, 2024, X[2] account @LocalBateman reposted the video, with the upload (shown below) gaining over 18.1 million views, 43,000 reposts and 384,000 likes in eight days.
On November 8th, 2024, X[3] account @weirddalle reposted the edit, with the post gaining over 350 reposts and 3,800 likes in seven days.
Following the viral success of the first edit, Instagram page funcutts posted more edits based on the same premise. For example, on November 8th, funcutss posted an IRL Minecraft edit of another FAIL video that garnered over 1.2 million likes on Instagram[4] in one week (shown below).
This and further edits posted by the account were widely circulated on social media in November 2024.
