Minecraft College Football, also known as MCFB or MCAA, refers to a series of Minecraft videos and memes about imaginary Minecraft-themed colleges and universities with Division I football teams, including Pig State and Ole Moo, among others. The trend started on TikTok in 2024, however, YouTube videos of college stadium MInecraft builds predate the trend.

Origin

Prior to 2024, Minecraft builders like YouTuber^[1][2] 42 Pineapples recreated college football stadiums in the game.

However, the Minecraft College Football trend, using imaginary Minecraft-themed universities and colleges, didn't surface until 2024. Currently, the first discovered meme of the trend was a video shared by TikToker^[3] @luke.pro.minecraft on July 28th, 2024. The video's POV caption read, "Pov: it's Saturday night at chicken state stadium." Over three months, the video received over 236,900 plays and 45,900 likes (shown below).

Spread

In the following months, others on TikTok joined the trend. For instance, on September 26th, 2024, TikToker^[4] @minecraftcfb posted a video of the "Villager State White Out" forcing a time out. The video received over 85,600 plays and 9,800 likes in 19 days (shown below).

On October 3rd, TikToker^[5] @jacksonex posted a video of the final play at the "Village Bowl," gaining over 1.1 million plays and 158,000 likes in 12 days (shown below).

Going into October 2024, Minecraft College Football memes surfaced en masse. For instance, on October 12th, TikToker^[6] @pigstateofficial posted a video about a "Pig State pink out," amassing over 3.3 million plays and 416,600 likes in three days (shown below).
