#MillennialCommandments is a hashtag game in which Twitter users write parodies of the Ten Commandments to mock stereotypical millennial tastes and character traits.
Origin
On February 5th, 2019, trending hashtag host for @hashtagroundup,[2] @ADudeCalledDan[1] introduced the hashtag game in a tweet (shown below). The tweet was retweeted 20 times and liked 30 times that day.
Spread
On February 5th, Twitter user @toandfro1979 [3] tweeted "Thou shalt honor my safe space.
#MillennialCommandments" (shown below, left). The tweet gained 27 retweets and 135 likes that day. @Eminem11684[4] tweeted shortly after saying "#MillennialCommandments
There’s only 9 cuz they can’t even" which gained 78 retweets and 372 likes that day(shown below, right).
The same day, Twitter user @ThomasB070874[5] tweeted "#MillennialCommandments
Alexa tell me the Commandments" which accumulated 41 retweets and 305 likes that day (shown below, left). This tweet was followed by user @Protogenes1's[6] tweet saying "Thou shalt worship no selfie above mine #MillennialCommandments" which garnered 46 retweets and 224 likes that day (shown below, right).
