Michael Shannon "Wow, This Has Just Been Such a Pleasure," continued, "I'm Such a Lucky Boy. I Can't Wait to Go Home," is an exploitable green-screen template of actor Michael Shannon telling the camera that he wants to go home in a roundabout way that alludes to his displeasure with the situation he's leaving. The original video of Shannon is called "Michael Shannon's Closet Picks," uploaded to the YouTube channel of Criterion Collection in June 2023. Soon after its upload, the clip with Shannon's aforementioned quote trended as a TikTok meme in which meme creators used a CapCut template.

Origin

On June 14th, 2023, the YouTube^[1] channel of criterioncollection uploaded a video called "Michael Shannon's Closet Picks" which was part of its ongoing series called "Closet Picks" in which actors, directors and other celebrities got to choose films from Criterion's collection. Actor Michael Shannon was the episode's guest, and at the video's 3:57-minute mark, he said to the camera, "Wow, this has just been such a pleasure. I'm such a lucky boy. I can't wait to go home" (shown below). Over the course of six days, the video gained roughly 235,600 views and 9,300 likes.

On June 15th, 2023, video memes using Shannon's aforementioned quote started to surface on TikTok. The first-known was uploaded by TikToker^[2] @therealaaronbailey on June 15th, inserting Shannon into a movie theater's hallway with text overlay reading, "Me after wasting 2+ hours on a movie that was absolute garbage," gaining roughly 337,700 plays and 40,000 likes in five days (shown below).

Later on June 15th, 2023, TikToker^[3] @igreenscreenthings uploaded a greenscreen template of Shannon in the "Closet Picks" video, gaining roughly 262,300 plays and 26,400 likes in five days (shown below, left). The TikToker also added a greenscreen template to their CapCut^[4] account, titling it, "I’m Such a Lucky Boy." In the days that followed the CapCut template's upload, meme creators used it, such as TikToker^[5] @themtnhermit on June 18th, 2023, whose video received roughly 367,400 plays and 75,200 likes in two days (shown below, right).

The memes spread elsewhere in June 2023. For instance, on June 16th, 2023, iFunnier^[6] @WhiskeyMutineer posted an iteration, gaining roughly 2,800 smiles in four days.
