@miagillespiee's Moms Weekend Gone Wild TikTok is a viral video of five women lip-syncing the Aly & AJsong "Potential Breakup Song." The video inspired numerous TikTok Duets of people impersonating the women in the video and speculating about the moms' other interests.

Origin

On October 10th, 2020, TikToker @miagillespiee posted a video of her mother and several of her friends' mothers lip-syncing and dancing to the song "Potential Breakup Song" by Aly & AJ. The video received more than 47 million views, 7.3 million reactions and 76,000 comments in less than one month (shown below).

Spread

Following the post, people began posting duets of the video. For example, on October 13th, 2020, @miagillespiee shared a variation in which the daughters of the women impersonate their mothers. The post received more than 45 million views, 7.6 million reactions and 39,000 comments in less than one month (shown below, left).

Others posted jokes in the form of Duets. On October 20th, TikToker rebecca.leeee shared a Duet in which they try to guess what cars each woman drives. The post received 3.5 million views, 528,000 likes and 5,300 comments in less than one week (shown below, center). TikToker angelinabellucci shared a variation in which they guess what shoes the women wear. The post received more than 4.7 million views, 666,000 reactions and 5,600 comments in less than one week (shown below, right).

On October 22nd, BuzzFeed ^[1] interview Mia Gillespie, the 19-year-old owner of the TikTok account. She told BuzzFeed, "I was expecting it to get a couple thousand views due to the fact that I had 40,000 followers before this video went viral, but I was not expecting it to be as viral as it is now!"
