Messy Hair Bratz Doll, also known as the Messy Doll, refers to a photo of a Bratz doll with a messy bun. The image was originally posted to Twitter / X in 2017. It became a common reaction image and image macro going into the 2020s. It was used by mostly women online to portray messy-haired beauty and post-intercourse emotions.

Origin

Currently, the earliest known upload of the image (shown below) was tweeted by since-deleted Twitter / X^[1] user @sorrynotsoorry on June 18th, 2017. The post is deleted but multiple quote retweets are still accessible.^[2] It is currently unknown how many likes the post received.

Spread

In June 2017, other X users posted the image and went viral, such as X^[3] user @Envie_Secrete on June 25th, 2017, who captioned it, "Leaving bae house after a successful back massage," receiving over 69,000 likes in seven years (shown below, left).

Also on June 25th, 2017, X^[4] user @vaIcntino tweeted the photo, captioning it, "Me waking up at 4pm from a 18 hour depression nap," gaining over 88,000 likes in seven years (shown below, right).

On September 25th, 2017, X^[5] user @maelintrw posted a tweet (since-deleted) that started the #BratzChallenge trend (shown below, left).

People cosplaying as the Bratz doll continued into the 2020s, evident in a post shared by Instagram^[6] user @chloemorello on October 31st, 2020, gaining over 97,500 likes in four days (shown below, right).

Viral usage of the image continued in the 2020s, evident in a post shared by X^[7] user @9DimeJ on March 20th, 2024, captioned, "I don’t know if this is appropriate for men to post but…" receiving over 5,900 likes in two months (shown below).
