Merry Chrysler is a quote from a Vine video by Christine Sydelko in which she intentionally mispronounces "Merry Christmas." The quote became a humorous way to wish "Merry Christmas" in subsequent years.
Origin
On November 18th, 2015, Christine Sydelko uploaded a Vine video of her mispronouncing "Merry Christmas," ending with "Merry Chrysler." The video gained over 323,000 likes 152,000 revines, and over 101 million loops (shown below).
Spread
The Vine was retweeted by @viralvines[2] on December 16th, 2015, where it gained over 1,800 retweets. In the following two Christmas seasons, the popularity of the Vine led to others to tag their Christmas-themed posts with the phrase "Merry Chrysler." For example, a selfie posted to Imgur on December 25th, 2016 was titled "Merry Chrysler" and gained over 1,700 points.[1] A thread was posted to Reddit's /r/OutOfTheLoop[3] the same day inquiring as to why people said "Merry Chrysler." The popularity of the Vine also led to merchandise being made in tribute to the Vine, which can be found on Redbubble[4] (examples shown below).
